Do you want to look your best?
I attended Penn State University in the mid 70’s and then upon graduating started a post associate’s degree in a Philadelphia Photography School. I was fortunate to find my calling when at that school I became a straight A student. Towards the start of my final semester I had a meeting that changed my life.
I walked into a room one day and five students told me that they were going to interview a gentleman who was on the school’s board of directors and he lived in Washington, DC. I did not know a thing about this man and I asked what he did. They replied, “Weddings.”
During the interview I though I would never be picked because I had the least wedding experience of any of the students. Turns out that was what he was looking for. Monte wanted to train me in his style and taught me how to do those important photos that clients will cherish. While in Washington, DC I went to many society parties and my eyes were wide open. The first party I attended with Monte Zucker, the Photographer who hired me, I said “wow, this room is fantastic.” Turns out this room was only the cocktail area and the main room was behind the wall. I was amazed at the size of this wedding. It was held at the Mayflower Hotel in downtown Washington, DC.
While in Washington Monte taught me how to do photography and how to pose a person to make them look better. Today I have noticed many photographers who never learned this rule. Women can turn their heads many ways and men have fewer choices. There we a lot of little improvements that I learned while working in Washington and I still use them today.
When I first arrived on Cape Cod I had knowledge of posed portraits against painted backdrops. We used to create beautiful images of faces and members of the family. While on Cape Cod I quickly learned that all of my training went out the window and the first thing I had to learn was to place couples, families and Cape Cod Wedding clients on the beach. That’s right. At the time when I first arrived on the Cape in 1984 this was the thing to do. No one on Cape Cod really wanted my talents because of our natural backgrounds so I decided to blend in and provide the Cape Cod Brides what they expected.
Today I have adopted the casual approach to weddings that is so popular here along with some of my training. I also like the casual look but if you take a Cape Cod Bride and place her on the beach standing there she will instantly add ten or fifteen pounds. This is not what my clients want and they have hired me to make them look their best. Do you know there are three distinct angles of your face where you will look better? I have continued to do Cape Cod Weddings and many other events a Cape Cod Wedding Receptions as well as off Cape weddings. Whenever you are choosing a Cape Cod Photographer you should ask him or her do they know how to make you look your best? That should really be your first question before “what is your price”.
